Before COVID, sitting a couple of feet away from a fellow participant wasn’t much of a concern. Neither was sharing a facility that had multiple groups using different rooms sharing common reception and break areas. But our world has changed, at least temporarily and these are real concerns.
LearnerFirst’s Learning Studio is a perfect space for holding your training event or meeting during and post COVID. When using our studio for an learning session or exam you have EXCLUSIVE access to the space, including the reception and break area. There is no chance of cross contamination from other groups as there are no others groups.
As with all other learning event rental facilities in the downtown Toronto financial district, we have adopted a new sanitation regimen and procedures to protect both our guests and our staff. We are also trying to maintain a larger social distance and are setting the room up with a lower number of desks and chairs than we have in the past.

Corporate learning has changed. Moving forward more learners will want to connect virtually instead of coming in person. LearnerFirst has invested in a technology infrastructure that will keep the Learner Experience front and center for both remote and live students.

Comfortable Seating and Room to Move
If you want your learners to remain focused and engaged they need to be comfortable. In our meeting venue learner comfort is a prime concern.
Our private, modern meeting space includes height adjustable chairs on wheels complete with lumbar support.
We limit our learning studios to a maximum number of participants to ensure enough space for each learner to be comfortable. Forgot small meeting rooms, give you attendees space to breath.
Focusing on Staying Focused
There are many unseen factors that can affect an adult learner’s ability to focus:
HVAC - When you rent a classroom in an event center you don’t control the HVAC and it can be difficult to maintain a comfortable temperature in a single room.
Noise - having exclusive use of the learning studio removes any chance of sound bleed from other rooms, a common concern in multi-room training centers.
Our learning studios are self contained spaces with independent, controllable HVAC systems that allow you to maintain the temperature for your learners. With no neighbouring sessions going on, sound bleed will not be an issue either.
Lighting to Help with Staying Alert
Ideally lighting in meeting rooms would follow a learner’s circadian rhythm, providing comforting, warmer light in the morning and stretching out learner’s peak focus, motivation and concentration times by providing a cooler light temperature period throughout the afternoon.
Our studio features full natural daylight combined with cooler temperature indoor LED lighting to help learners remain alert the entire day through. Using cooler temperature lighting helps reproduce lighting that occurs naturally at peak focus times during the day.
An Enhanced Hybrid Virtual Learner Experience
In a hybrid classroom, good audio is as important as good video. If students can’t hear or understand what the instructor is saying, or conversely if the instructor can’t hear or respond to questions from remote students, the learner experience suffers. Utilizing top quality audio helps improve the quality of the training for remote learners.
It’s important for remote learners to feel connected with the classroom. By using high quality cameras that focus on the instructor as he moves around the room we can maintain some of that in-class feeling. Borrowing from the computer classroom setup, we add participant cameras to every desktop to allow remote students to see live students clearly.
Elevate the experience for your online learners by engaging our onsite producer to help manage the technology. Our producers manage breakout rooms, chats, offer support to remote learners and can even monitor and mix camera angles within our studios.

COVID’s been tough on small corporate meeting rooms.
In 2019 if you searched google for a term like “computer training center near me” or “corporate meeting venues near me” you have found a great selection of good sized meeting rooms. Unfortunatey many didn’t make it, and places like Training Centres of Canada, and many of the downtown computer training classrooms are no longer available. Instead what you find are co-working and shared office spaces advertising small meeting rooms. Unfortunately these private meeting rooms are no better than hotel meeting room rentals for running corporate learning sessions.
